Reported data breaches figure has risen tenfold

According to recent figures released by the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), data breaches in the UK have increased tenfold in the past five years.This increase emphasizes that companies, now more than ever, should work to ensure their data backup, storage and protection strategies are well thought out and well managed.The ICO has stated that part of the reason for the increase in reported breaches is that breaches are more often reported than previously. This is due to increased awareness of the legal responsibility of organisations to protect people's data.
