Earth Day is a time to reflect on our relationship with the planet and what we can do to protect it. As we celebrate Earth Day 2023, it’s important to remember that we all have a role to play in creating a more sustainable future. At Redstor, we are committed to doing our part to care for the Earth, and we believe that our cloud-based solutions and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) responsibility are key to achieving this goal.
As a leading provider of data management solutions, Redstor understands the importance of sustainability and environmental responsibility. We recognize that traditional on-premises data centers can consume a significant amount of energy, contributing to greenhouse gas emissions and climate change. That’s why we offer cloud-based data management solutions that help businesses reduce their carbon footprint and promote sustainable practices.
By providing cloud-based solutions, we enable businesses to reduce the energy consumption associated with on-premises data centers. Cloud-based solutions are more energy-efficient because they use shared resources and infrastructure, reducing the need for individual businesses to maintain their own data centers. In addition, our solutions are designed to optimize resource utilization, further reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions.
But our commitment to sustainability goes beyond energy efficiency. Our backup and disaster recovery solutions help prevent data loss, which can result in significant environmental damage. Lost or corrupted data can result in businesses having to recreate or duplicate data, consuming more energy and resources than necessary. By preventing data loss, we help reduce the environmental impact of data management.
Redstor is also committed to reducing our own carbon footprint. We have recently applied to the Science Based Targets initiative, with a commitment to reducing emissions in line with the target of limiting global temperature rises to 1.5°C. This is in line with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s recommendation to avoid the catastrophic impacts of climate change.
To meet this target, Redstor must reduce scope 1 + 2 emissions by at least 42% from 2020-2030, as well as reducing scope 3 emissions. We’ll be publishing our progress towards this annually and are already taking steps towards this, like sourcing renewable energy in our office locations and data centers where this is possible and choosing to work with partners who have similarly aligned targets.
As a Microsoft Partner, Redstor is aligned with Microsoft’s Partner Pledge, committing to ESG responsibility. This means we will continue delivering innovative solutions that enable our clients to achieve their business goals while minimizing their environmental impact. We are proud to be part of the Microsoft Partner ecosystem, and we believe that together, we can create a more sustainable future.
This Earth Day, we encourage businesses to join us in our efforts to care for the planet by adopting sustainable practices like cloud-based data management. By reducing energy consumption, optimizing resource utilization, and preventing data loss, we can make a significant impact on the environment. At Redstor, we believe that technology can be a force for good, and we are committed to promoting sustainable practices in everything we do.
