Paul Evans is the CEO and co-founder of Redstor. Following a brief spell as a lawyer, he has been working in the business of data management since 1994. After starting out with Memory and Shuttle Technology, he set up Redstor with fellow co-founder and lifelong friend Tony Ruane in 1998. Paul was also a co-founder of SaaS company Centrastage, which exited to Vista/Autotask in 2014. At Redstor he is focused on delivering the 'Future of Data Management. Now'.
Mark Howling, our Chairman, has worked in the software, IT and telecoms industries for more than 30 years. He started his career working in large, multi-national corporations and has spent the last 20 years working in Private Equity-backed businesses. He has significant experience in developing and growing businesses organically and through mergers and acquisitions. In addition to being Chairman at Redstor, Mark is Chairman of Gradwell Communications and TIG, and founder and a non-executive director of Pulsant, a cloud hosting company. Mark graduated from Nottingham University with a degree in Civil Engineering.
Albe Gouws heads up the information and analytics function at Redstor. Based in Johannesburg, Albe applies his vast knowledge of the industry and the value of more than 20 years’ experience to ensure that the company is positioned at the forefront of digital transformation and related service provision. Albe has been dedicating his career to data protection and management since 2009. His interests lie in innovation, emerging technologies and how things work. He is passionate about the application of business intelligence, risk and process improvement.
Chris Sigley is Redstor’s Sales Director. He has been with the organisation since 2004 and during this time he has worked in a variety of roles within sales and management. As General Manager of Redstor UK (for three years), he played a key role in the growth and evolution of the organisation from a VAR/Reseller to a global SaaS business. Today, as a sales leader, Chris focuses on growing the business through strategy implementation and performance coaching, whilst ensuring that customers and their requirements are at the forefront of our thoughts.
Ben Cartwright is an Investment Manager at Beech Tree Private Equity and a non-executive board member of Redstor. Ben has more than seven years' experience of advising and investing in fast-growing businesses across a range of sectors, mostly with a technology focus. Before joining Beech Tree, Ben worked for Deloitte in the Corporate Finance Advisory team, advising clients on a variety of M&A scenarios and strategic initiatives.
Danie Marais is one of the founding partners of Redstor and our Director of Product Management. He developed the first Backup Pro Storage Platform and many of his designs are still used. Today he is responsible for the Product Roadmap and still plays a very active role as part of the Development Team. Prior to working with Redstor, Danie was a freelance developer. He comes armed with an arsenal of skills and experience around agile methodologies, cloud computing, SaaS and UX, among others.
Gareth Dyson joined Redstor in 2012, and as Finance Director has responsibility for managing information, risk and controls. He is a qualified accountant with more than 10 years' experience in commercial finance roles in a number of multi-national companies. Gareth is experienced in mergers and acquisitions and was a key part of the team that completed the Attix5 purchase.
Heidi Weyers joined the Redstor team as General manager for Sales in SA. Heidi has experience at every level of operation and uses this knowledge to manage and drive sales strategies in SA and the rest of Africa to develop strong partner relationships. During the last seven years, Heidi has specialised in solving customer challenges related to data backup, disaster recovery and business continuity.
Paul Franks is a founding Partner of Beech Tree Private Equity and a non-executive board member of Redstor. Paul has been involved in deal-making and private equity for 20 years. Over this time he has invested in a range of support-services businesses, mostly in the technology, media and telecoms sectors. Paul set up Beech Tree to create a more nimble and faster-moving approach to private equity that put the senior guys on the front line. Paul is also currently on the board of a telematics-related business and a unified communications business, the common theme being helping these businesses through periods of rapid growth through investment.
Theodor Kleynhans is our Director of Software Engineering at Redstor. He continues to apply his skills and experience to sustain the company’s leadership position in next generation digitalisation architecture. Theodor has a deep interest in new technologies, management optimisation, process improvement, performance improvement, scalability and science fiction. This skill is rooted in a formidable academic background, in mechanical engineering from Stellenbosch University and computer science from the University of South Africa. Theodor is responsible for the delivery of quality solutions on time and within budget, as well as the evolution of software engineering practice.
Thomas Campbell, our Technical Services Director, has more than 11 years’ experience as part of the UK-based team, since graduating a Bachelor of Computer Science from University of Kent in 2005. He’s developed through a number of roles at Redstor including Senior Consultant, Product Manager and Head of Pre-sales. Thomas’s expertise ideally positions him to contribute to product management and the direction and development of the Backup Pro platform, whilst overseeing Pre-sales, Consultancy, Support and Technical Operations.
