Report released on NSA activities and their impact on EU citizens
A report has been created for the European Parliament regarding the NSA's activities and their impact on the privacy and data protection rights of EU citizens. The aim of the report is to provide recommendations to better protect EU citizens’ rights. Cloud computing has broken down geographical and national barriers and cloud services users now have to place a degree of trust in that their cloud providers are honest in detailing where their servers are hosted and that they will adhere to the service level agreements agreed. Should this not be the case, then there is a risk of data sovereignty not being inline with what is expected, resulting in a variety of issues surrounding privacy regulations for the cloud service user.
The report suggests that the EU Parliament have failed to notice the implications of data sovereignty and that more needs to be done regarding EU data stored on US servers as it is currently accessible to the NSA. The report puts forward several proposals including a requirement that US websites ask EU citizens for their consent before storing any data that may be at risk of being used by the NSA. These notices must be prominent and be in no way misleading. Redstor is 100% privately UK owned and based, and can guarantee your data privacy will not be breached.
