Southern Education Forum 2014

Tue, 07/10/2014 - 10:00

On Friday, Redstor welcomed a selection of our education partners and resellers to our 9th annual southern education forum, held at Mercedes-Benz World in Weybridge. Proceedings kicked off at the impressive venue with a hearty welcome breakfast of tea, coffee and bacon rolls and pastries, which provided the opportunity to catch up with customers old and new.

Presentations began with a look at key trends for the education market in 2014 and beyond as well as highlighting some upcoming challenges. Additionally, the day featured presentations on existing services including our backup for schools service; RBUSS, Safeguarding for Schools, Centrastage and also a presentation by Scomis / Devon County Council, which was very well received. Scomis discussed how they have used the cloud to grow their customer-base, discussing the challenges they have faced and how these have been overcome. In addition, the much-anticipated interactive break out sessions enabled attendees to ask questions and discuss their thoughts, challenges and ideas amongst industry peers and with Redstor.

Following on from this, guests spent their afternoon tearing up the Brooklands Racing Track in impressive Mercedes AMG cars. Guests were driven around the track by highly skilled drivers, including a couple of British Touring Car Drivers, who demonstrated their impressive drifting skills. Initial feedback suggests the day was informative and enjoyed by all:

"The breakout sessions were great as they usually are, and there is always a session or two that are current and of importance to me. It was also great to meet your customers that have already implemented the solutions that I am looking into now. It's always great to hear from someone who has actually completed a task and discuss with them the problems they encountered along the way and how they resolved them, both on a technical and customer level."

Phil Jones, Babcock International

"Some of my team attended the Redstor Forum last Friday – the event was well structured and gave us updates on all the current Redstor products and also new developments being planned. My highlight was the Keynote presentation from the Scomis team from Devon, which was very informative and gave a good insight into how well the CentraStage product has been incorporated and embedded into the way they deliver their support to schools. The opportunity to network with colleagues delivering similar support was hugely beneficial and we have all come away with ideas, contacts and added knowledge."

Judy Price, Worcestershire County Council

"The event was a great opportunity for networking and catching up with peers. As well as this, the presentations were thought provoking and generated ideas for additional services and revenue streams."

Tom Welch, Turn IT On

"I always find networking with others who are carrying out similar support roles useful to find out if they have faced challenges similar to ours and it is always nice to catch up with Redstor and any new faces that may have joined the team. It was useful to reflect on the suggestions brought up during the previous Redstor Event to see what has been done in the interim, it shows that customer feedback is taken onboard. Also, it was interesting to see what products / new services Redstor are developing and bringing to market and how these may benefit the schools we support. One more thing I enjoyed was the SCOMIS presentation; the presenters were enthusiastic, passionate and informative"

Lorna Higgs, Babcock International

Planning is well underway for the northern education forum which will take place on October 10th at Park Lodge Shooting School in East Yorkshire. Should you require any information or wish to attend, please email [email protected].

Once again, thank you to everyone who attended. We hope you found the day as enjoyable and informative as we did. We look forward to seeing you next year!
