Theft from brand new free school for children with Autism

Theft from brand new free school for children with Autism

posted in Education ● 1 Aug 2016

A new free school for children on the autistic spectrum opened on Monday in Reading. The free school was set up by the National Autistic Society (NAS) and Reading Borough Council to cater for children who measure average to high ability on the autistic spectrum. Unfortunately, on the evening of Sunday 15th September; the night before the school was due to welcome pupils, a laptop and tablet were stolen from the premises.

The damage from the break in and the theft of the equipment was described as “distressing” by Head Teacher Fiona Veich. She elaborated further discussing that the stolen laptop was the main computer she used for her work and contained important data regarding the school and pupils. This is very sad news and stresses the need to protect data stored on devices.
