Children today are spending more time online than ever before. Whether socialising, learning or gaming, the Internet is affecting all aspects of their lives. Children should be encouraged to explore and utilise the Internet to its full potential but how do we make sure our children are staying safe online? 1/3 of parents in a recent survey declared they felt ill-equipped to teach their children best practise for staying safe online and 45% of parents surveyed would like schools to spend more time teaching children the importance of cyber security.
Schools have had filtering and blocking systems in place to protect children for many years. In addition, the Government recently introduced its Active Choice Plus service whereby UK ISPs introduced a filtering and blocking service to restrict access to all inappropriate content, including pornography, hate and self harm website, in the home. Although filtering and blocking does protect children from viewing inappropriate content, it is often simple to bypass and does not teach children the correct procedures should they come across inappropriate content. The answer lies in Redstor Safeguarding, in partnership with Securus Software. Securus Software is the only school monitoring system to be developed and overseen by child protection specialists detecting issues such as:
The software works by identifying potential child protection issues online, empowering schools to provide an immediate informed response on issues which may otherwise go undetected. School staff can rely upon the technical confidence offered by computer monitoring as well as benefiting from the best safeguarding training and advice available. When a school signs up to Redstor Safeguarding, it is entitled to an introductory Beat Bullying webinar; child protection advice by phone and email provided by Securus Software; a comprehensive Securus e-safeguarding handbook; online demos and training; regular safeguarding bulletins and software updates.
