Britain battered by storms, leaving homes without power

posted in Product ● 5 Dec 2013

Severe winds, fallen trees, flooding and travel disruptions have affected much of Wales, Scotland and Northern England resulting in flood warnings being issued across 240 areas of the UK and amber warnings for wind across much of Northern England and Scotland. 120,000 homes are without power and all trains in Scotland have been cancelled as police warn of at least another 36 hours of disruption. Residents of some areas are being evacuated due to the increased likelihood of flooding and a police spokesman has urged people “to take action to move important and valuable items to safety”.

Our advice is not only to check your insurance but test your business continuity plan! The key question being; “Have you a robust business continuity plan in place?”  Flooding and high winds cause building damage, power failures and the potential for data loss.  A robust, tried and tested plan provides businesses’ the reassurance that trading can continue no matter what. Redstor’s Online Backup for Business ensures data is securely backed up and managed off site to our UK data centres. Two copies are stored off site in our highly secure, geographically separate data centres to ensure rapid data recovery. Additionally, data is encrypted prior to transit to protect the confidentiality of your business data.

Redstor also offers a Virtual Disaster Recovery (VDR) service which can ensure that your business is up and running within minutes following a disaster. We understand that loss of data for even a few hours can be catastrophic to a business so all that is required is a simple phone call to our team of experts who are available 24/7, 365. Once installed, the service copies and tests your business servers nightly to ensure that the VDR process will succeed when required. VDR simplifies the disaster recovery process ensuring it is fast, simple and guaranteed to succeed.
