Redstor and EMC have partnered to produce a service that combines the features and resilience of EMC’s Cloud Tiering Appliance (CTA) with Redstor’s class-leading Cloud storage infrastructure.

The Cloud Tiering Service moves information from primary storage (EMC VNX, EMC Celerra and NetApp) to Redstor’s EMC Atmos-based Cloud infrastructure.
The Cloud Tiering Service provides fully automated policy-based file movement, enabling you to meet data growth challenges by improving capacity utilisation of high-cost primary storage, reducing he volume of data to be backed up and protected.
Industry estimates are that in most cases, 80% of file data is no longer active after 30 days. The combination of EMC's Cloud Tiering Appliance and Redstor Cloud storage automatically moves inactive files to less expensive Cloud storage – located in Redstor’s secure UK data centre facilities.

The CTA appliance is integrated with the EMC and NetApp storage APIs, so native functionality and existing processes can be maintained, providing a transparent non-disruptive experience for the storage administrator.
